These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of dtangle, including the desktop application, web dashboard, and cloud services (collectively, "the Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
dtangle is a productivity tool that monitors your application and website usage on macOS, generates attention insights using AI, and helps you set boundaries around digital distractions. The Service consists of a desktop application that runs locally and a cloud backend for data processing, insights, and cross-device sync.
You need a Google account to use dtangle. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. One account per person. Do not share device API keys with others or use the Service on behalf of someone else without their knowledge.
You own your activity data. We process it to provide the Service. Our use of your data is governed by our Privacy Policy. You grant us a limited license to process, store, and analyze your data solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.
You agree not to:
The desktop application requires macOS Accessibility and Automation permissions to function. These permissions allow dtangle to read the names of active applications and browser URLs. You grant these permissions through macOS system dialogs. You can revoke them at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security, which will stop monitoring.
Thread autopsies, daily summaries, and coaching suggestions are generated by AI. They are interpretive, not factual. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of AI-generated content. Do not rely on AI insights for medical, legal, or employment decisions.
dtangle offers free and paid plans. Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe. You can cancel at any time; access continues through the end of the billing period. Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice.
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The desktop application works offline; cloud features require an internet connection. We may perform maintenance with reasonable notice. We are not liable for data loss, missed insights, or downtime.
You can delete your account at any time via Settings > Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Upon termination, your cloud data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Your local data remains on your device.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, dtangle and its operators shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated through the product or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you disagree with updated Terms, your remedy is to stop using the Service and delete your account.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
